A boutique law firm in The Woodlands, Texas, secured a defense verdict against Big Law for an interior designer who was sued by a wealthy couple for $9.5 million on allegations of the breach of an oral contract and fraud.

I Squared Capital, through its ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund III, has completed a growth capital investment in RPower, LLC, a distributed energy resource platform. I Squared has targeted up to $400 million of equity capital to fund growth initiatives including the development, construction, and ownership of distributed energy resources that provide resiliency and services to both the electric grid and commercial and industrial users.

The Texas Supreme Court issued its 47th Emergency Order of the COVID-19 pandemic on January 19. In it, the court renews and amends its 45th Emergency Order.

On March 24, 2005, plaintiffs’ decedent Voncil Sherrod, 76, died as a result gangrene of the feet due to occlusive atherosclerotic vascular disease at a hospital in Memphis. Sherrod’s family alleged that the death precipitated from serious physical injury and neglect that occurred during her 3.5-month stay at High Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Memphis.

On July 30, 2011, plaintiffs’ decedent Garland “Rickie” Kelley, 38, an oilfield services technical manager, was working in the course and scope of his employment at an industrial facility in Conroe. A high-density lithium thionyl chloride battery-technically, a battery pack composed of multiple battery cells - exploded, and Kelley sustained fatal injuries. The facility was operated by Kelley’s employer, Professional Directional Enterprises Inc., which provides drilling services, including personnel and equipment, to well operators.
